| So, this is my second entry in a week. How about that?
This is just one saying that I will be putting another entry up with pictures and stories and all that jazz as soon as I can find a way to get my pictures off my camera and onto a cd.
You see, I left my computer cable that lets me do that at home and I'm in DC.
The problem being very obvious and my cash being really low means that I am waiting for a good moment and a good friend to let me borrow their memory card reader or computer equipped with such a device to burn the pics to a cd.
But, here's my digital pinky swear that I'm on it. By the way, it snowed in DC today making it a very enjoyable place to be. Finally, a respite from freezing cold winds was felt by all across the DC area. And what's better than that, a forecast of 60s for sometime towards the end of the week is better than less wind with snow.
DC has to be he weirdest city for weather I've ever lived in, that includes my thoughts of the year I spent in Adirondack hidden Schroon Lake.
Oh yeah, I have a different kind of blog, less personal life more news critique/epiphany moments at leonardslemonade.blogspot.com.
Subscribe to my atom feed. You'll never regret it. (whatever)

| Ok, I cannot make up for the lack of entries I post here. Basically, I was accepted into the Best Semester program. Now, I'm in Washington, DC, working with The Washington Times' multimedia department. The semester started the second week of January and ends the last week of April.
In about 2 weeks, I have spring break. I'm planning to go home, straighten my schedule out for my senior year at NGU and spend some much needed time with friends in family.
Some of the difficult things that have been going on in my life are my mom's continuous checks with specialists over different health complications she is having, being totally out of my comfort zone in DC and being separated from the friends that were pretty much the main elements of my life before I left, that includes Sarah.
Sarah and I are still together. She left for Hungary on Friday and will return this upcoming Friday. I miss her already, but I cannot wait to hear everything that happened while she was gone.
Some of the incredible things are living in DC, meeting a group of peers who are Christians and journalists that desire to seek God's call for their lives, being pushed out of my comfort zone and standing among giants, literally the monuments are huge here.
I have used DC mass transit more than most will dream of using it. I have memorized more random times and bus routes than will ever be useful outside this city. I have learned to always add 20 minutes to travel time to and from anywhere. There's lots more too.
Since I'm on the subject of things that are new. I was amazed to see Dave Evans has a girlfriend. Not because I didn't think it could happen, I hoped it would eventually. I just remember talking to him before Christmas and not thinking anything would go down until the weather got better. But congrats buddy. Maybe now you can bring her down so that I can meet her. So, here's the deal: you bring your girl down, I'll get my girl to come up. How's that sound?
Aside from my personal rabbit trail directed at Evans, which I don't know if he will even read it, that's about everything going on for me right now.
Other than being busy each day with figuring out what it is to be a reporter and how to work with an editor, life is pretty much the same as always.
On a spiritual note, I have visited more variations of Christendom in the past few weeks than I knew existed a few short years ago.
I went to a C.M.E. (Christian Methodist Episcopal) Church the first week I was here. Then, I attended two Catholic services and two different Catholic churches.
I have been to Capitol Hill Baptist in DC twice. Once, I ate lunch with their college/intern peoples.
This week I attended the contemporary worship service at The National Cathedral. The Cathedral is monstrous. I liked it. We didn't have services in the Nave (main hall) but in a chapel down in the crypt. I plan to return for an 11 o'clock service in the Nave though. If anything, just to get pictures. And I suppose I'll worship while I'm there too. I mean it's only right.
So, here's a long diary entry. If you haven't unsubscribed from my list, leave me a little note or something. Maybe that'll encourage me to visit more often. Also, if enough people are interested, I'll add some pics of the Capitol and my classmates here in the program. But only if I see someone say they're interested.

| For many of you, I'm sure this post is way overdue. Therefore, I will begin by asking forgiveness on my slack updating skills. Anyways, as a side note, I have never been able to do a journal consistently no matter what format it takes.
Let's see. We left off with me applying for the Best Semester program in Washington, D.C., and something else I can't remember because I don't remember everything in my last post.
In brief, I have been accepted into the program and will be heading up early January to begin a semester long stretching experience. I am super excited, eager, and afraid. I believe to there to be many reasons behind all of these emotions. However, I've always wanted to live in a metropolis, and here's my chance. I mean Schroon Lake is huge and Tigerville is monstrous, but D.C. has them all beat.
I guess I should also tell everyone about my engagement. I decided to go ahead and plunge right to tie the knot. Unfortunately, she refused my proposal. In the end, I should tell you all that I have lied from the beginning of this paragraph just to have a little fun. I didn't propose and she didn't refuse. In the name of good fun, I at least enjoyed this entry a little more because of that last part.
In other news, my band All Things Transparent played a show Friday night. It went very well with a few rough spots here and there, but overall it was a great show. Today, North Greenville University's football team won the men's National NCCAA Division 1 Championship. Now, I can say I've been and possibly graduated with national champions. For me, this event is a first ever as I have never been to a school where the athletics were overly successful in any way and I cared about it. I care now though because I have been to every home football game playing in the marching band. This season struck a little closer to home than most, if you get what I mean.
At North Greenville, the guys normally cannot visit the girl dorms to hang out or anything, but once a semester the university holds a supervised visit. In other words, the guys can visit the girl dorms for about 2 hours for a night. Well, as an RA, I was on duty that night for a little while, but my duty station was at my girlfriend's dorm. So that worked out really nice. This is a picture of her in her Halloween costume. All of you Fall Festival people don't worry, she is Lady from Lady & the Tramp. Another reason not to worry is because she is just too cute, even if it is a Halloween costume.

A funny story also accompanies this night. I wasn't even dressed up at all, but as we walked around to visit other friends a common question was asked by most of the people we encountered. They would of course see her in her Lady & the Tramp T-shirt with her dog nose and ponytails and ask if she was the Tramp? I got a kick out of it all night. Anyways, I guess some things are most likely only funny if you are there to see the look on someone else's face after ten people have asked her if she is the Tramp.
That's about it. For Thanksgiving break, I am spending much wanted and needed time at home with my brother and parents. I might try to get a seasonal job at Mori's Luggage in Spartanburg over break. My brother works there, maybe he'll throw in a good word for me. After the break, we only have a week of school with finals starting on Friday of the week after Thanksgiving break. Then, I am out until January. Maybe I will post a little more during the break, but for some reason I think it will be monthly still. If enough people bug me weekly, I'll play nice and put one out every week. I miss all of you friends, my brothers and sisters. I hope all is well with you. May God bless you as you seek Him and point others toward Him.
Grace and peace be with you, Brandon

| With the new season finally arriving in the southern US, I have a new little addition to my life as well. I know it has taken me a while to update, but the world's most likely bachelor to the rapture now has a girlfriend. Her name is Sarah Woodley, and she goes to school at North Greenville University with me. If you want to know more, call me I guess. Anyways, that doesn't mean there is no hope left for me to still be a bachelor til the rapture, but it does mean that I'm maybe one percent less likely than before. Besides all this going on, I recently began the application process for the Washington Journalism Center. The WJC is a program in affiliation with the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities that allows students to come and study journalism in Washington, D.C., for a semester. The students accepted take nine hours of classes and six hours of internship at one of the newsrooms in DC. I am excited and a little nervous. I will finish filling out my application and send it up next week. The original deadline was Oct. 16, but they have extended it until the 30. They have made my life a little less hectic even if homecoming week is next week. I have various activities that I'm involved because of band and being a resident assistant. One to speak of is The Event. The Event features Dr. David Jeremiah and Charles Billingsley. The Event is a fundraising dinner set to bring in about one million dollars for university development. It's really cool. If you wanna read more about it, I suggest you visit http://www.nguskyliner.com for more information. We included a news story about it in last week's paper. This is about everything for me at the moment. I hope you are all doing well. I am praying to see all of you again at some point in time soon, which reminds me. Anyone from WOL Florida will enjoy this next little tidbit. I saw Shirah from first year this past Tuesday. I was at the Nintendo/Fusion Tour in Winston-Salem, NC. Relient K, Hawthorne Heights, Emery, Plain White Ts, and The Sleeping were there. But obviously one of the coolest part was catching up with her for a few minutes. Alrighty folks, have a good one. God bless!

| There is no way for me to catch everyone that reads my xanga still up on all that has been happening lately. Let me see...my last entry was from the preSTC week up at WOL The Island. Since then, the camping season has come and gone. I am back in SC at North Greenville University. Classes started last Wednesday; however, I have been on campus 2 weeks and a half. I went through RA training and am the RA for McKinney house. Most likely, the best house on campus. Not because of its quality or luxury, but because it is what I call home. Also, I have a 10 gallon aquarium (in all actuality I really wanted a cockerspaniel, but I can't have one of those while I'm at NGU) with 3 fish. They are male mollies. I decided on buying three different colors. Midnight is black (I'm considering changing his name; Midnight doesn't exactly sound super masculine); Nemo is orange; and Silver is silver. The last one is especially creative and original. If you have any ideas for the silver one's name, leave me a comment. Well, I need to work on a project with a classmate for my media technology class. I hope you are all doing well. Until later, | | |
